Abstract

Hanyu holds that the name is as important as the object.He is different from Liu Zongyuan who believes that the object is more important than the name.Though Hanyu rejects Buddhism and Taoism,he agrees with the abilities and temperaments of some monks and Taoist priests.In the principle of granting a name according to the fact,Hanyu hopes that the Buddhist monks and Taoist priests could convert to Confucianism.
