Abstract
Earth gravity is the subject of studying the gravity field distribution with respect to time and space and its mechanism. The gravity field distribution has three kinds of applications. The first is geodesy and space science. The ground gravimetry can improve the quality of the geometrical observables and determine the space gravity field to improve the orbit of the satellites and aircrafts. The second application lies in the earth's interior structure. The gravity fields can provide constraints for three-dimension inhomogeneous distribution and mantle convection. The third one is the exploration. The gravity field distribution with respect to time is mainly caused by earth tides and other geodynamical mechanism. In this paper, we make a review ofthe development of the studies on geodetic gravity and earth tides in China.
