ANALYSIS ON CULTURAL GEOGRAPHY LITERATURES IN CHINA DURING THE PAST TWENTY YEARS

Cultural geography has made great progress in China since 1980s.Based on the collections of cultural geography literatures from 1985 to 2004,this paper has all literatures classified,arranged in order and counted on three types of geography,college journal and others.Appling the method of literatures analysis,the authors discuss and analyze the time-spatial distribution,the authors' productivity,the authors' regional distribution and distribution of their organizations,the amount of literature sustained by NFC,and the content of literature research,and open out the state and character of development of cultural geography in China during the past 20 years.Its characters may be summarized as follows: 1) The range of research is very extensive;2) The traditional contents are more than modern contents about research of cultural geography,and some researches escape from practice;3) The research of theory is very weak;4) The descriptive methods of research are primary,and the means of new technology is seldom adopted by authors;5) A lot of subjects involve research of cultural geography,but,researchers' attention to cultural geography can not be kept for long time. In expectation of development of cultural geography in China,authors put forward that the researchers should pay attention to many cultural phenomenon in the process of modern social transform and the condition of globalization,should enhance innovation of cultural geography theory,should focus on application of new geographic technology as 3S,and combination of qualitative and quantitative methods,should adopt cultural geography research to demand of development on contemporary social economy,and make point to research urban cultural district,cultural planning,cultural production,cultural industry and so on.Finally,a stable research troops is very important for the sustainable development of cultural geography.This paper can also provide scientific basis for those who want to grasp and keep abreast of current focus and trend of cultural geography in China.
