The clinical evaluation of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring in the course of diagnosis and treatment for occult hypertension

Objective To investigate the application value of dynamic blood pressure monitoring(ABPM) in diagnosis and treatment of masked hypertension.Methods Six hundred outpatient physical examination personnel were selected from January 2011 to February 2012 in our hospital,and they were divided into 3 groups depending on the age of the patients(youth group,middle-aged group and elderly group),monitored 24 h ambulatory blood pressure using ambulatory blood pressure measuring instrument,and compared occult hypertension incidence among 3 groups patients.Results The incidence of masked hypertension for the group of middle-aged and elderly group were significantly higher than that in young group,the differences were significant(P 0.05).Conclusion The ambulatory blood pressure monitoring had important diagnostic value for masked hypertension,was beneficial for patients with early diagnosis and prompt treatment,worthy of promotion and application.
