Abstract
Objective To understand and to grasp the basic situation on return donors who were ineligible by ALT dry chemistry testing before blood donation,in order to provide important references on advertising, recruitment and retention of blood donors. Methods In 2013,personal information of donors, who were eliminated before blood donation, was collected.529 blood donation cases were randomly drawn and studied,in which unqualified donors, who returned to donate, were tested by ALT dry chemistry screening method before blood donation. Information of these donors who have previously logged into the computer system was verified, compared and analyzed. Result The proportion of first- time donors who were determined ineligible by ALT screening but returned to donate blood was 11. 42%( 33 /289). The proportion of repeat donors who were determined ineligible by ALT screening but returned to donate blood was 46. 67%( 112 /240),P 0. 005. Both groups had high rates of return to donate blood( 81. 82% and 89. 29%). No statistically significant differences were found in the proportions of the two groups returning to donate blood. Conclusion The majority of blood donors determined ineligible by ALT dry chemistry testing before screening can return to donate blood.
