Abstract
The coastal wetlands in northern Jiaozhou Bay were studied using Remote Sensing and GIS technologies. Information was extracted from the Remote Sensing images of the coastal wetlands in the northern part of the bay, in order to analyze the temporal and spatial changes and establish a quantitative assessment system of the wetlands, which will be used to assess the quality of the wetlands. Results showed that during the period from 1997 to 2007 there were large changes in wetland types, severe degradation in coastal wetlands, increasing impacts of human activities, large increase of non-wetland areas and continuous decline of wetland quality.
