Abstract

Objective:To investigate expression of nm23 and p53 in human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)and relationship with the clinical pathologic features and prognosis of the patients. Methods:Dilute monoclonal antibodies of nm23 and p53 as immunohistochemical markers with EnVision.methods in 58 specimens of ESCC tissue were established, and analyzed in TNM classiticative. Results:The 58 cases included 3 cases of stages I,27 cases of stages Ⅱ and 28 cases of stages Ⅲ and Ⅳ.The immunohistochemical staining showed that nm23 and p53 were positive in 46.6% and 58.6% respectively. The positive rates had no correlation with the patient's gender, age and tumor length. In the ESCC stageⅢ,higher rate of nm23 positive staining was also found without lymph mode metastasis than that with lymph node involvement(P0.05);The expression of p53 was related to tumor differentiation and invasiveness(P 0.05);Statistical analysis did not show significant difference in expression rate of p53 without lymph node metastasis and that with lymph node involvement(P0.05) in ESCC stage Ⅲ.Conclusion:The combined detection of nm23 and P53 gene proteins may play an important role in the progression of sguamous cell carcinoma of esophagus for cancer cell differentiation, the clinical stages and the prognosis of patients.
