Abstract

The pilot experiments were carried out to investigate the advanced treatment by the combined process of two-stage ozonization and activated carbon in a plant using Taihu Lake water as raw water. The results showed that the removal of organic pollutants by the combined process was stable.Relative to the raw water, the average removal rates of CODMn,UV254,DOC,THMEP,ammonia nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen were 47.06%,80%,31.92%,58.9%,65.5%,81.25% and 9.1% respectively, when the pre-ozonizaiton dosage was 0.5mg/L and the main ozonization dosage was 0.7mg/L.The effluent could meet Standards of Drinking Water Quality (GB 5749—2006).The disinfection by-products of ozone were lower than the standard limit in the effluent from carbon filter. The combined process has some resistibility to the impact load of hazardous substances.
