Abstract
Objective:To study the clinical efficacy and surgical techniques of microsurgical resection of large acoustic neuromas via the suboccipital retrosigmoid approach.Methods:28 cases large acoustic neuromas pathologically confirmed by microsurgery surgery were analyzed retrospectively.Results:A complete tumor removal was achieved in 25 patients(89%) and 3 patients(11%) subtotal resection.The facial nerves were preserved anatomically in 23 patients(82%) and the acoustic nerves were preserved anatomically in 7 patients(25%),one patient died.Conclusion:The rates of total tumor removal and reservation of cranial nerves can all be increased by suboccipital retrosigmoid approach for microsurgical removal of the large acoustic neuromas.
