Abstract

Contrasts chlorine dioxide (ClO2) with chlorine (Cl2) on parameters of total bacterianumber, colon bacillus number, chloroform, benzpyrene in disinfected drinking water. The resultshows that the lower dosage of chlorine dioxide can be used than that of chlorine. Chlorine dioxidecan degrade benzpyrene effciently while chlorine can not. Chlorine dioxide used as disinfectant cannot produce chloroform which can cause cancer and deformity. Chlorine dosage and otherparameters such as pH, persistent time and reaction temperature can influence chloroformconcentration in drinking water.
