The Aesthetic Style of Shen Congwen' s Novels

Abstract

The aesthetic style of Shen Congwen's novels shows eagerness for mental peace and spiritual balance. The phenomena in life, especially those concerning regret and silence, sex and beautiful women and love and grievance are narrated in his novels. The ideas of his aesthetic style, which are mingled with hope and desperation, resolution and hesitation, simplicity and complexity, are in fact ways to record the life process of individuals, nation and humans.
