Abstract

The rigid body limit equilibrium method, strength reduction FEM method and gravity reduction FEM method are used to analyze the stability of a typical slope respectively, and the results are compared. The calculation results of three methods are different. The results of strength reduction FEM method and gravity reduction FEM method are consistent and the result of rigid body limit equilibrium method is lower than two others, but the evaluation conclusions and the judgment on potential instability area are consistent. It is suggested that a variety of criterion factors should be used for the comprehensive evaluation of slope safety factor to improve accuracy when using strength reduction FEM method.
