The Application and Problem in Functional Endoscopic sinus Surgery

Abstract
In the 1970s, the foundation and development of Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) which is mainly treated for sinusitis/nasal polyp, opened up a new field of sinus surgery, the technology of functional sinus has pushed sinus surgery to a new stage and made the curative ratio of sinusitis get to 80%～90%. Now it is one of the most effective therapies for sinusitis disease at home and abroad. This article reviews the history of functional endoscopic sinus surgery. To analyze the application of pathological changes in the nasal cavity and sinuses. And to come up with the two problems which should be deal with in the courses of application. It is quite important to grasp the direction and characteristics of development of functional endoscopic sinus surgery.
