Abstract

Objective To observe the main blood vessels and nerves of mandibular angle region and to study the anatomical characteristics of them. Methods 10 adult skull specimens were choosed in the experiment.Anatomical observation and measurement were taken in the main blood vessels and nerves of mandibular angle region. The study included the course of the main blood vessels and nerves of mandibular angle region and the relationship between them and mandibular angle. Results The distance from facial artery, facial vein to mandibular angle separately were(30.06± 4.25)mm,(27.55±4.02)mm.The distance from retromandibular vein to posterior border of mandibular ascending branch and to mandibular angle separately were(3.00±0.56)mm,(12.20±1.09)mm.The distance from marginal mandibular branch of facial nerve to mandibular angle was(10.36±0.41)mm.Conclusion Through the anatomical study of the main blood vessels and nerves of mandibular angle region was taken. The common rules were summarized and provided the anatomical basis for the operation of mandibular angle.
