Abstract

Based on the monitoring results of water quality in South Yellow Sea offshore in 2003,the sea water quality in the sea area has been assessed by analysising the single pollution index, pollution load ratio, the nutrient status index and organic pollution index. The assessment results of single pollution index show that all monitoring pollutant values are greater than the Class 1 sea-water specified by the Chinese National Standard of Sea Water Quality except pH and DO and that the order of pollution load ratio is BODPO~3-_4-PCODinorganic nitrogen. The E index varing from 0.97 to 1.50 indicates that the sea area is eutrophicated.N is the controllable factor of primary productivity by analysising N/P.A index from 1 to 2 indicates that the sea area has been affected by organic pollution.
