Abstract
Based on the micronudeus test of tip cell of Vica faba L. root, the effect of different concentrations of chromium nitrate on micronucleus rate and chromosomal aberration in tip cells of Vicia faba L. root was examined to evaluate the genotoxicity of Cr6+. The results showed that the micronucleus rate and chromosomal aberration rate increased at first, with obvious dose-effect relationships reaching the maximum values at 48h, 50 mg / L and 48 h,100 mg / L, respectively. Then it was followed by a drop with the increasing of chromium concentrations. The chromosomal aberration rate was still higher than that of the control. Chromosomal aberrations caused by chromium were mainly consisted of chromosome fragment, lagging chromosome and chromosome bridge. The results indicated that chromium could induce the micronuclei and chromosomal aberrations in tip cells of Vicia faba L. root.
