Abstract
The colour reaction of a new reagent 2-(2-imidazolylazo)-5-dimethylamino-benzoic Acid(IZDBA) with Ni~(2+)were studied. The new reagent reacted with nickel(Ⅱ) to form a stable red complex with molar ratio of 1∶2 in the medium of HAc-NaAc at pH 6.0.The apparent molar absorptivity was(2.95)×10~(4)L·mol~(-1)·cm~(-1) and maximum absorption wavelength was at 580 nm.Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 0~0.8 μg/mL for Ni~(2+).The method has been used for the direct determination of nickel in aluminum alloy and nickel catalyst samples with satisfactory results.
