Abstract
With the increasing demand of traffic flow simulation and the development of ITS research, the traffic flow model based on cellular automata has been developed.Cellular automata model of traffic flow incorporates a series of vehicle movement rules and traffic regulations.Meanwhile, the model works under some stochastic rules taking into consideration of drivers' behaviors and ambient interferences. This paper introduces the establishment and development of cellular automata model of traffic flow, summarizes and comments on different kinds of typical cellular automata models of traffic flow, and furthermore, presents a new perspective for further study of the model.
