A Comparison of Thinking between Lao Zi and Heidegger

The purport of this dissertation is to show that there is similarity in Lao Zi and Heidegger's spiritual essence.It's mainly reflected in three aspects:tracing back to origin,letting everything be itself and the reverence for “Nature”and“Holiness”.This dialogue based on their same thinking mode of negation goes on side by side with approval and their same ideal of pursuing truth.But facing difficulties of survival,they put forward views,which are different from each other: about life,Lao Zi believes that“cherish personality rather than daily life”,comparatively,Heidegger believes that“living towards death”;about technology,Lao Zi believes that“give up technique and interest”,comparatively,Heidegger believes that“let it be itself”;about the impoverishment of time,Lao Zi believes that“go back to infant”,comparatively,Heidegger believes that“stay in abyss”.From above,we can conclude that the thinking between Lao Zi and Heidegger can be translated by each other to some extent.
