Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the effects of Lactulose on intestinal barrier function in hepatitis cirrhotic patients with spontaneous bacterial peritonitis(SBP).Methods:Fitfy-four SBP patients of hepatitis cirrhosis were randomized into two groups:lactulose trear, ent groupand a control group,All cases were observed for 7days.To evaluate intestinal permeability, the concentration of lactulose and mannitol in urine was measured using high-pressure liquid chromatograph with refractive index detector(HPLC-RID),and the levels of urinary excretion of LAC/MAN ratios were calculated. Results:The levels of urinary excretion of LAC/MAN ratios were significantly higher in cirrhotic patients with SBP than those in SA group and healthy control group(P0.001).After treated for one week, the levels of urinary excretion of LAC/MAN ratios were significantly decreased in treating group than those in control group(P0.01).Conclusion:The intestinal barrier function in hepatitis cirrhosis patients is abnormality.Oral lactulose is beneficial to intestinal barrier function in hepatitis cirrhotic patients with SBP.
