Abstract

Objective To explore the best method of venipuncture in elderly patients.Method 400 elderly patients with cardiovascular diseases aged over 60 years were sampled randomly. The method of head-on venipuncture and lateral venipuncture were used respectively. Then, the success rate,time-consuming and patients' pain were compared. Results Compared with lateral venipuncture, the success rate was higher in the group of head-on venipuncture(P0.05),and patients' pain were lower(P0.05).There was no significant difference in time-consuming(P0.05).Conclusion Because the elderly patients' vein characterized by sclerosis, poor elasticity and brittleness,it is suitable to use the method of head-on venipuncture.
