Abstract

Nano-SiO2/silicone modified polyacrylate emulsifier-free emulsion was synthesized by emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization and sol-gel technique. The effect of the content of nano-SiO2 on emulsion stability, solvent resistance and optical properties of film was investigated. The microstructure of the emulsion and film was studied by TEM and SEM.The results indicated that the emulsifier-free emulsion had better polymerization stability, and centrifugal stability of emulsion decreased with the increasing content of nano-SiO2.The water resistance of nano-SiO2/silicone modified polyacrylate hybrid film was better than that of silicone modified polyacrylate film, and increased with increasing content of nano-SiO2.The hybrid film had good light transmittance and ultraviolet light absorption property. In the hybrid film, silica domains smaller than 100nm were dispersed homogeneously in the polyacrylate component.
