Abstract

Aim:To investigate the expression of myeloid antigen(MyAg) in adult patients with T-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia(T-ALL).Methods:Immunophenotyping of 63 adult cases of T-ALL were examined by CD45 /SSC double parameters and multi-color flow cytometry, and the clinical features as well as response to induction treatment were analyzed. Results:MyAg was detected in 49.2% cases, which was predominanted by CD13(33.3%) and CD33(25.4%),followed by CD117(12.7%) and CD64(3.2%) ;meanwhile,CD14 was not detected.Patients with MyAg+ had lower incidence of hyperleukocytosis, hepatosplenomegaly and CD2 expression than those of MyAg-cases(χ2 was 6.232,5.769,and 4.872,respectively,P 0.05).There were no differeces in induction death rate(3 /22 vs 3 /29) and complete remission rate(14 /19 vs 23 /26) between MyAg + and MyAg-patients(χ2 was 0.006,1.640,P 0.05).Furthermore,no differences were observed in clinical features between the cases with single and combined MyAg expression. Conclusion:MyAg expression in adult T-ALL is not a rare event, which is significantly associated with hyperleukocytosis, hepatosplenomegaly, and CD2 expression, while not with induction treatment response.
