Abstract
Objective:To observe the effect of moxibustion to prevent and treat chemotherapy-induced diarrhea by irinotecan or fluorouracil.Methods:70 patients were randomly assigned to treatment group and control group. The treatment group which had 36 patients received moxibustion and chemotherapy. The control group which had 34 patients received chemotherapy only.We observed the incidence of CID and changes of Karnofsky between the two groups. Results:The incidence of CID was 8.3% in the treatment group while which was 26.4% in the control group and the difference was statistically significant(P 0.05).The Kamofsky scores including stability rate(ascend and stable) in the treatment group were higher than those of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P 0.05).Conclusion:The moxibustion can prevent and treat chemotherapy-induced diarrhea and also improve the quality of life of the patients.
