Abstract
A number of key techniques about Steel Catenary Risers, a new type of deepwater riser abroad, are introduced in the paper. The influence of the first-and second-order motion of floating structures on the fatigue life of steel catenary risers and the influence of heave motion of floating structures on fatigue life at the touchdown point (TDP) of steel catenary risers are expounded. A full-scale test on the riser-soil interaction and its influence on the riser are discussed. The state of with the art associated with VIV and VIV fatigue of steel catenary risers are also presented. The problems of the touchdown point of steel catenary risers are briefly discussed.
