Abstract

More than ten medium and large sized molybdenum deposits are newly discovered in the northern edge of the Dabie orogenic belt, which form an important molybdenum metallogenic zone following the East Qinling and the Northeastern Qinling molybdenum metallogenic belts. In this paper, the classification and basic characteristics of the molybdenum deposits in the northern Dabie orogenic belt according to the latest exploration data were introduced. The Dabie molybdenum metallogenic belt strikes nearly East-West along the regional tectonic trend, and distributed in the Tianmu mountain,Tongbai of Henan Province and Shapinggou area,Jinzhai of Anhui Province. The Dabie molybdenum orebodies occur in the inner and outer contact zones of granitic porphyry and its vicinity, the intrusions are mainly intermediate-acid shallow to ultra-shallow porphyry of Yanshanian period. The molybdenum deposit type is dominated by the porphyry type Mo deposit, and minor deposit types include skarn type, hydrothermal vein-filling type, and breccia type, each kind of the molybdenum deposit has its corresponding geological features.
