Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlation of serum interleukin-6(IL6),interleukin-8(IL8) and interleukin-10(IL10) to the stability of carotid plaques and the prognosis of transient ischemic attacks(TIA).Methods Divided TIA patients into two groups based on the result of computed tomography angiograph(CTA) and compare the serum IL6,IL8 and IL10 levels of the stable plaque group and instable plaque group.Detected the serum IL6,IL8 and IL10 levels of control group and compare to those of TIA patients.Divided TIA patients into three groups based on the prognosis and compare the serum IL6,IL8 and IL10 levels among cure group, recurrent attack group and cerebral infarction group. Results The serum IL6 and IL8 levels of instable plaque group were much higher than those of stable plaque group while the IL10 levels were just the reverse. The serum IL6,IL8 and IL10 levels of TIA patients were much higher than those of control groups and those of the recurrent attack group and cerebral infarction group were higher than the levels of cure group. Conclusion The serum IL6 and IL8 levels have negative correlation to the stability of carotid plaques while the IL10 levels are just the reverse. Those who have high serum IL6,IL8 and IL10 levels are more likely round into cerebral infarction.
