Abstract
Mitochondria are the most important organelles in eukaryotic cells. The spatial structure of mitochondria including four regions: outer membrane, inner membrane, intermembrane space and matrix.Mitochondrial transport system comprises the translocase of the outer and inner mitochondrial membrane, soluble factors of the cytoplasm, intermembrane space and matrix. The transportation mechanism of mitochondrial precursor protein into inner membrane, intermembrane space and matrix are emphasized in this paper. The structure and function of translocators including TOM40 complex,TIM23 complex, small Tim proteins and the disulfide relay system are also discussed in the present paper.
