Abstract
In order to shorten seedling period, rooting ability of cutting from different individuals in Helicia nilagrica Bedd was researched. The results showed that rooting rate, rooting index, and average rooting speed had great variability in different individuals. The extent of cutting rooting rate of adult trees is from 0% to 90%,and that of young tree is from 13.5% to100%.There were significant positive correlation between rooting rate and rooting index of adult tree, and negative correlation between rooting rate and average rooting speed. So plants with high rooting rate, strong rooting ability should be taken as scion-seed tree.Otherwise, the rooting ability of cuttings from young trees was stronger than that of cuttings from adult trees.
