Abstract
The phenol content, including total phenols, simple phenols, tannin and condense tannin,in 5 dominant shrubs grown in alpine meadow of Tianzhu was assayed by using Folin-Ciocalteu method. The results showed that the phenol content varied among shrubs. The total phenols, tannin, condensed tannin in Hippophae tibeticawere the highest in all tested shrubs(69.67,63.34 and 42.45 g/kg DM respectively),and meanwhile, the simple phenol was the lowest(only 4.27 g/kg DM).The content of phenols in Sibiraea angustata were significant lower than the other four shrubs(P0.01).There was significant positive correlation between tannin and simple phenols(r=0.94,P0.01),and between tannin and condensed tannin(r=0.94,P0.05).
