Abstract

Three extracts of ethyl acetate,n-butabol and water from the ethanol extract from persimmon peel were used to determine polyphenols content, and gallic acid was served as standard compound. Then the free radical scavenging activities of the three fractions were measured with DPPH·(1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. The results showed that,(i) the polyphenols content of ethyl acetate extract,n-butabol extract, water extract are 36.70,4.96 and 9.51 mg/g.(ii) the DPPH·scavenging value of IC50 are 243.76,1 389.95 and 940.03 mg/L,respectively.(iii) the correlation study showed that the powerful antioxidative activity of persimmon was mainly resulted from high contents of polyphenols. The research indicated that the polyphenols content of ethyl acetate extract is higher than that of n-butabol extract and water extract.Antioxidative activity showed that the three extracts have DPPH free radical scavenging activities, and the ethyl acetate extract is the best. The polyphenols of persimmon is a natural antioxidant with strong activity.
