Abstract

The effects of removal of Cd(Ⅱ) from raw water with hydrated manganese dioxide produced by reduction of KMnO4 were studied by coagulation experiments. The effects of pH value and turbidity of raw water on removal of Cd(Ⅱ) were investigated and the possible mechanism were discussed. The results showed that the hydrated manganese dioxide had excellent effect of removing Cd(Ⅱ) from raw water. The removal rate of Cd(Ⅱ) reached 95% with 3mg/L hydrated manganese dioxide. So the hydrated manganese dioxide was a kind of effective water treatment reagent for removing Cd(Ⅱ).
