Abstract

A Woman describes the heroine-YE ZI with the awakening of democracy,freedom and individual liberation.Having experienced various obstacles in the pursuit of individual freedom and liberation,she was ultimately defeated by the oppression of the feudal autocratic politics and feudal tradition,ideology and culture.This tragedy has its social and personal reasons.The character of YE ZI under that specific historical background and social environment has the typical significance undoubtedly.She can be said to be the epitome of the new woman after the baptism of the Meiji Restoration.
