Abstract

The morphology and distribution of leaf trichomes of Agastache rugosa were studied using light microscopy. The result showed that there were three morphologically distinct types of trichomes on Agastache rugosa leaf surfaces:non-glandular,peltate and capitate glandular. The glandular and non-glandular trichomes presented on both the adaxial and abaxial surfaces. The growth of trichomes had completed in the early stage of leaf growth, its density was decreasing with the density of leaf growth.Peltate and capitate glandular trichomes comprised one basal cell, one or two stalk cells and one head. The head of mature peltate glandular trichomes consisted of twelve secretory cells while that of capitate glandular hairs was composed of one or two cells.
