On the Linguistic Research into Sign Language in Western Countries

Abstract
The linguistic research into sign language in Western countries started in the 1960s.This article reviews in retrospect the major linguistic researches into sign language in major Western countries,which mainly involve phonology,morphology,syntax,the acquisition of sign language,and neurolinguistics,and analyzes the uniqueness of both sign language and sound language,as well as the trends in the development of sign language research.
