Abstract

Objective To evaluate the influence of Helicobacter pylori infection on the situation patients with liver cirrhosis. Methods 137 decompensated cirrhosis patients with hyperammonemia were investigated. Blood ammonia level was detected in all patients. Results Hp-positive was detected in 51 out of 137 patients.Blood ammonia level in cirrhosis patients with Hp-positive was significantly higher than that in patients without Hp. The prevalence of hepatic encephalopathy, hepatic peptic ulcer in Hp-positive was higher than that in Hp-negative group. The prevalence of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage, ascites, esophageal and/Or gastric varices, the degree of Child-pugh was similar in both Hp-positive and Hp-negative groups.Blood ammonia level in patients companion hepatic peptic ulcer, hepatic encephalopathy and upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage was higher than that in patients without these companions. The staged of hepatic encephalopathy is similar in both groups. Conclusions In liver cirrhosis patients, Hp infection risen blood ammonia concentration, was associated with hepatic encephalopathy, and was a potential role in hepatic peptic ulcer.
