Abstract
The phytic acid conversion technique was investigated by single-factor experiments. It was found that uniform coherent conversion coating on MB8 magnesium alloy can be obtained on condition of 10 ml/L phytic acid,pH=2.5,at 50 ℃ for 20 min.The micro-structure of coating was similar with chromate conversion coating, whose surface was uniform micro-crack network, similar to the rimose land. The main elements of coating were Mg,O,P,Mn and C.The potentiodynamic polarization curves showed that corrosion current density reduced greatly when MB8 magnesium alloy was treated through phytic acid conversion technique.Which indicated that phytic acid conversion coating improved effectively corrosion resistance of MB8 magnesium alloy.
