Abstract

Results of static and dynamic compression tests on several grades of beryllium and lockalloy are presented. A split Hopkinson pressure bar system, used to generate data at strain rates up to 1000/sec, is described in detail. Stress-strain curves show several different grades of beryllium to have a moderate amount of strain rate sensitivity in compression in the plastic region.
