Effects of ulinastatin on patients with severe pneumonia

Abstract

Objective To observe the effect of ulinastatin on severe pneumonia.Methods One hundred and twenty patients with severe pneumonia were randomly divided into two groups:ulinastatin group(n=58)and routine group(n=62).Both groups were given routine treatment,while the patients of ulinastatin group were given ulinastatin(200 000 U,micro pump per 12 h,5～7 d)in addition.The improvement condition by monitoring the heart rate(HR),respiratory rate(RR),temperature(T),white blood cell(WBC),procalcitonin(PCT)and oxygenation index were observed.Results The marked effective rate of ulinastatin group was higher than that of control group(79% vs 51.6%,P0.05).There were significant differences in HR,RR,T,WBC,PCT and oxygenation index between two groups(P0.05,P0.01).Conclusion Ulinastatin has good effect on patients with severe pneumonia,it has clinical value in treating severe pneumonia.
