Abstract
[Objective] To understand the iodine nutrition status among children in Quanshan district,Xuzhou city,so as to provide the scientific evidence for prevention and control of iodine deficiency disease(IDD).[Methods]In 2009,sampling method of probability proportional to size(PPS) was adopted in 5 schools in Quanshan district, thyroid enlargement, urinary iodine and iodine content of household salt samples were tested among a total sample of 100 children aged 8 to 10.[Results]The thyroid enlargement rate in the 100 children aged 8 to 10 was 1.00%,The median of urinary iodine was 432 μg/L,100 μg/L were not detected among children,≥300 μg/L accounted for 76.00%.100 household salt samples were tested,100.00% was identified as iodized salt, the qualified rate of iodine in salt was 98.00%.The average iodine intake per person was 648 μg/d.[Conclusion]Children in Quanshan district have access to adequate iodine nutrition. The thyroid enlargement, urinary iodine and qualified rate of iodine in salt have attained the national standards of IDD control.
