Efficacy of Spironolactone in the Treatment of Patients with Congestive Heart Failure

Abstract

Object: To evaluate the colincal therapeutic efficacy of spironlactone in patients with chronic congestive heart failure(CHF).Methods: Patients with CHF consisted of 76 cases were randomized into group A and B.In addition,group A was given spironolactone(20-40 mg/d),group B was not given spironolactone.the heart function(by NYHA),echocardiography and the distance after 6 minutes walk test were performed before and after the treatment of six weeks.Results: Six weeks after treatment,NYHA class and the distance after 6 minutes walk test improved significantly in both groups(P0.05),but more significantly in group A than those in group B(P0.05).Conclusion: Use of spironolactone is absolutely reliable for patients with CHF
