Abstract
The effects of copper pollution on the seedling growth and activate oxygen metabolism of F.arundinacea were studied by water cultivation experiments. The results showed that under low concentration of Cu(10 mg/L),there were no remarkable suppression on the growth of F.arundinacea, furthermore, when the concentration of Cu lower than 5 mg/L,the growth of F.arundinacea could be improved, their fresh or dry weight and the content of chlorophylls in leaves increased, while the velocity of O_2·~-production and the content of MDA had no marked change, the activities of SOD,POD or CAT increased, and the balance of protective enzyme system was hold. However, with the increase of Cu concentration (10~40 mg/L),negative effect had existed, the fronds were shorter and smaller, the fresh/dry weight and content of leaf pigments decreased drastically, the roots were shorter and fewer. The velocity of O_2·~-production was increased sharply, the membrane penetration, electric conductivity and MDA content of leaf cells were increased.Furthermore, the activate oxygen metabolism system of F.arundinacea was destroyed, the balance of protective enzyme system was broken. The research showed in the meantime,F.arundinacea was a kind of turfgrass that had a potential in restoration for soil polluted by Cu.
