Abstract
Directional cultivation of late tillers of TGMS lines is a new production technique for core seeds in rice. The effects of seedling age for transplanting, fertilization modes and number of tillers of seedling on formation of late-tillering panicles were studied with P88S and Zhun S as materials in Lingshan, Guangxi in 2008, and the results showed that number of late tillers of P88S in 7~8 seedling age transplanting treatment was more than that in 4~6 seedling age transplanting treatment, and that in one plant with one tiller transplanting treatment was more than that in both one plant without tiller treatment and one plant with two tillers treatment. As for Zhun S, number of late tillers in 6 seedling age transplanting treatment was more than that in 4~5 seedling age transplanting treatment, and that in one plant without tiller transplanting treatment was more than that in one plant with one or two tillers treatment. The tillering rate in treatment of 30% basal and 70% dressing fertilizer was obviously higher than both 50% basal and 50% dressing fertilizer treatment and 70% basal and 30% dressing fertilizer treatment in both P88S and Zhun S. Therefore, using seedlings with old age and no or one tiller and applying less basal fertilizer and more dressing fertilizer were advantageous to culture multi-layer panicle structure in TGMS lines of rice.
