The Study on the Distinctive Features of Ancient Wushu

Abstract

To study modern Wushu deeply and make Wushu a better future development,we need to look back to history.The overall features of ancient Wushu's development are summarized in the article.Firstly,ancient Wushu developed along the lines of official Wushu and folk Wushu,both of which maintained close ties.Secondly,when it comes to its quality,ancient Wushu belonged to combat skills,in which the defending-and-fighting Wushu that could improve people's combat level was the principal aspects and the artistry-expressing Wushu and body-building Wushu also exited as the secondary aspects.Thirdly,many kinds of Wushu that had different style formed a Wushu forest in ancient times,each of which was a skill system composed of elementary skills,series,taken-part skill,free skills and combat skills,etc.Fourthly,the general mood of value-literature-and-despise-force in feudal society conditioned the improvement of Wushu's social position.Fifthly,ancient Wushu advanced gradually and did not break off halfway like Olympic competition sports.In additional,it had been absorbed by other countries in the world.
