Abstract

The mechanical characteristics of soil differ depending on the level of stress. The shear properties of undrained re-molded clay(K0 and isotonic consolidation) were studied to understand the triaxial shear properties of soil under high stress as a guide for deep, underground construction engineering. An SKA-1 high-pressure K0 consolidation apparatus was used. The changes of indices such as K0,axial strain, average principle stress and principle stress difference were obtained under different consolidation modes. The results show that under high stress the principle failure stress difference is significantly larger under isotonic consolidation than it is under K0 consolidation. The stress-strain curves of two stress paths have similar mathematical models compared to those seen under low stress.
