On Interlanguage Errors in the Second Language Acquisition

Abstract

Interlanguge refers to the linguistic system employed by the second or foreign language learner.It is independent of both the learner's mother tongue and the target language she/he is learning.The traditional theory of the second language acquisition tend to overemphasize its negative effect;however,in the light of the theory of error analysis,the nature and significance of interlanguage errors in the second language acquisition are presented.Coupled with the elaboration of the relationship between interlanguage and language errors,the paper aims to highlight the status of interlanguage and puts forward enlightening points on foreign language teaching.
