Abstract
Polypropylene/organic-montmorillonite composites are prepared by melt intercalation with grafted polypropylene as a compatilizer. Influences of organic-montmorillonite on mechanical properties of the composite are studied.Structure of the composites are observed by X-ray.It is showed that the compatilizer can reinforce the action among PP and montmorillonite layers,increase the layer distances of montmorillonite,improved their dispersion in the matrix of PP,thus upgrading the notched impact strength greatly.When the contents of montmorillonite are 5 %,the motched impact strength of the composite is up to 1.2 times of that of pure PP,but the tensile strength decreases by about 5 %.TJ4 has the best compatibilization effect on the composite.
