The Impact of Higher Education on Economic Growth:Empirical Research on Guangdong Province

The article makes a research on the impact of higher education on economic growth,using the data found during the years 1995-2008.The empirical results show that higher education has a significant effects on economic growth.While investment in higher education increased 1%,GDP increased by 0.25%.However,investment in higher education is not the Granger cause of economic growth;human capital of higher education actively promotes economic growth,which is the Granger cause of economic growth.In the short term,investment in higher education does not affect economic growth obviously,but in the long run,human capital enhanced by higher education has significant effect on economic growth.
