Abstract

Pollution and source of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in airborne particulate were studied using constant energy synchronous fluorescence spectrometry in different function regions in Longyan City, Fujian Province in winter and spring. Results indicated that total amount of PAHs in airborne particulate of different function regions ranged from 278.95~718.13ng/m3, with higher in winter than in spring. According to the ratio of fluoranthene to pyrene, PAHs pollution might be judged coming mainly from automobile emission and coal burning. Benzo[a] pyrene (BaP) and benzo[a] pyrene-equivalent carcinogenic concentration (BaPE) were used to evaluate PAHs pollution in 3 function regions, with concentration of BaP in winter higher than national air quality standard of 10ng/m3 and PAHs beyond the standard.
