Development of Contemporary University Spirit Culture in China: Dilemma and Strategies

University spirit culture is the kernel of university culture, and academic spirit is the quintessence of the spirit culture. Under the dual impacts of academic democracy and academic capitalism,university spirit culture in contemporary China is facing dilemmas both in epistemological foundation and in values orientation. For persistence of the spirit culture, it is necessary to insist on the university philosophical feature and have them in well play. The key strategy for developing contemporary university spirit culture in China is to establish student-centered university ideas, talent-training-cored university goals, rational university academic spirit and to reshape the university spirit culture through opening up.
